Ha,

Libertarians and bigots both fall over themselves to conflate the end of privilege with the end of liberty. Both squeal to the same tune with the same hymnbook.

At least the southerners had the guts to take a bullet to fight for "freedom and liberty"

Hey Cleyon,

I''ve heard you''ve become somewhat of an authority on this subject of late...

Care to share some of your insights ?

What I find supremely ironic is that if the founding fathers were more like Barb, the entire country would be bitching and moaning ... about being under british rule.

Exhibit "A" Barb, Circa 2/5/1997

Its never been about criminals, its about people control. They need a new replacement to fuel their military industrial complex since the big bad bear went away. There''s a new threat in town, and it is us. Yes us. The nonconformist, intelligent citizen capable of excercising free thought. The ideal society to the the power elite is one that is zonked out on legal drugs, hooked up to cable from when they get home to when they go to bed, only getting out to purchase and consume. Thus our shitty educational system for the masses, our decaying representation in government, and the increasing control of the whole fucking rat circus by the multinational corporate entities and their money.

Exhibit "B", Barb 5/20/2010
Quote:

Its all common for those who use the good of the collective as an excuse to enslave and opress, nomatter what they call it.

Individuals that all have individual freedoms collectively are a free society. Societies that have societal rights that trump individual rights most of the time are usually on the verge of becoming totalitarian regimes, or at least obnoxious drone colonies with elite ruling classes that live far better than the collective they claim to care so much for and be governed by.

I''d post something about climate change, but he''s been copy pasting the same material for over a decade now. Not much of a challenge.

Here''s to making Iraq a better place ... CHEERS !

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/toxic-legacy-of-us-assault-on-fallujah-worse-than-hiroshima-2034065.html
Quote:
According to the authors of a new study, “Cancer, Infant Mortality and Birth Sex-Ratio in Fallujah, Iraq 2005–2009,” the people of Fallujah are experiencing [b]higher rates of cancer, leukemia, infant mortality, and sexual mutations than those recorded among survivors in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the years after those Japanese cities were incinerated by US atomic bomb strikes in 1945.
...

In a study of 711 houses and 4,843 individuals carried out in January and February 2010, authors Chris Busby, Malak Hamdan, Entesar Ariabi and a team of researchers found that the cancer rate had increased fourfold since before the US attack five years ago, and that the forms of cancer in Fallujah are similar to those found among the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bomb survivors, who were exposed to intense fallout radiation.[/url]

In Fallujah the rate of leukemia is 38 times higher, the childhood cancer rate is 12 times higher, and breast cancer is 10 times more common than in populations in Egypt, Jordan, and Kuwait. Heightened levels of adult lymphoma and brain tumors were also reported. At 80 deaths out of every 1,000 births, the infant mortality rate in Fallujah is more than five times higher than in Egypt and Jordan, and eight times higher than in Kuwait.

Strikingly, after 2005 the proportion of girls born in Fallujah has increased sharply. In normal populations, 1050 boys are born for every 1000 girls. But among those born in Fallujah in the four years after the US assault, the ratio was reduced to 860 boys for every 1000 female births. This alteration is similar to gender ratios found in Hiroshima after the US atomic attack of 1945.

The highest rated and best run health system in the US in the veteran''s aid system, which is 100% government run and controlled.

But reality is overrated, feel free to make up whatever you think needs to be said.

Remember kids, if nobody has it, then the government can''t take it away.

I take some comfort in knowing Barb and his ilk will never reproduce as there are few thing more impacting to "free individuals making what they can of themselves" then the responsability of parenthood.

If his parents had felt the same way we could have recuperated a lifetime of resources wasted on the evolutionary black hole that calls itself barb.

Neat... what kind of people use temperaure variation on planets with significantly elliptical orbits (pluto and neptune ???) as a basis for comparison with earth ?

Oh yeah, idiots.

They left out the temparture variation on the other planets in the solar system. I guess having a complete picture didn''t support the message they wanted to say.

Historically, populist movements use the rhetoric of class solidarity to seize political power so that “the people” can exercise it for their common benefit. American populist rhetoric does something altogether different today. It fires up emotions by appealing to individual opinion, individual autonomy, and individual choice, all in the service of neutralizing, not using, political power. It gives voice to those who feel they are being bullied, but this voice has only one, Garbo-like thing to say: I want to be left alone.

A new strain of populism is metastasizing before our eyes, nourished by the same libertarian impulses that have unsettled American society for half a century now. Anarchistic like the Sixties, selfish like the Eighties, contradicting neither, it is estranged, aimless, and as juvenile as our new century. It appeals to petulant individuals convinced that they can do everything themselves if they are only left alone, and that others are conspiring to keep them from doing just that. This is the one threat that will bring Americans into the streets.

Welcome to the politics of the libertarian mob.

Quote:
The crimes you mention are from using force and/or fraud. The system of free enterprise and markets is responsible for the rise of civilization. You are blind if you think the entire process depends on fraud and corruption to succeed. Protect individual rights first and foremost, and the society comprised of all the individuals will prosper. Seek to imbue "society" with a life of its own outside the sum of its parts and you end up with political machines that eventually grind millions to death and lives of poverty.
